*CDARIN* Allstarlink Hub
Allstarlink is another VOIP infrastructure that offers amateur radio operators and clubs the opportunity to create local, regional and global links and crosslinks. AllStarLink runs primarily on Linux based computer systems including dedicated computers and Raspberry Pi. According to the Allstarlink website, the application “is based on the open-source Asterisk PBX developed by Mark Spencer and using the app_rpt application module.” Created by the Jim Dixon WB6NIL (SK), “App_rpt makes Asterisk a powerful system capable of controlling one or more radios. It provides linking of these radio “nodes” to other systems of similar construction anywhere in the world via VoIP.”
CDARIN’s main Allstarlink Hub is 431420. This is our dedicate hub which is permanently connected to our Echolink Conference server *CDARIN* via Private Node 1000. Everyone is invited to use this hub.
Installing and Configuring Allstarlink
Allstarlink can be difficult to install as it requires some basic knowledge of Linux and a general understanding of how Asterisk works. The monitoring application Allmon2 requires some knowledge of web development.
It must be noted that there are two branches of Allstarlink: Allstarlink.org the original group and a forked version operated by Hamvoip.org. The relevant installation guidelines are available for each of these respective websites.
CDARIN supports and encourages the use of DV Switch Mobile application available for Android. DV Switch is the brainchild of Steve N4IRS and his team. This free client application allows you to use your mobile phone to connect to your node, then you can command your node to connect to other nodes.
