CDARIN is currently experimenting with the implementation of access to its platform using TeamSpeak 3 (TS3). TS3 is a server and client platform that is used extensively in the gaming industry. While it is not natively part of the ham radio ecosystem, it is easy to adapt and talkgroups can be created and managed by administrators. We have been able to successfully set up our own TeamSpeak 3 server.

CDARIN is not the first group to use TS3 for amateur radio use. The IRN Network provides a robust implementation of its use. However, as explained in our welcome page, CDARIN wants to create a platform that is uniquely Caribbean.

This application is attractive to us because mobile devices are ubiquitous, and the application is free to download for IOS and Android. Also, IRN several handheld radio devices that can be configured to use TS3 and which also gave PTT just like a regular handheld radio. Our recommended hardware device is the Inrico line of products.

Caribbean groups wishing to implement crosslinks can contact us and we will set up a talkgroup to accommodate your crosslink. CDARIN will offer free access to licensed hams only once fully configured.

Unlicenced hams will be guided to our Zello platform.  There will be NO amateur radio crosslinks on Zello.

Currently, the status of CDARIN-TS3 is experimental and it is not ready for production. However, you are welcome to connect and test.

To connect:

  1. Download the client for your device
  2. Create a server bookmark as follows
    • Label: CDARIN
    • Server Nickname or Address: ts.cdarin.net
    • Server Password  none during the beta testing
    • Nickname: Your Callsign – Your Name, example: K9PSL – Paul

Detailed instructions with diagrams are in the works.

Remember this is purely experimental at this point. Your feedback is welcomed.
